Common problems and what to check
Engine: VW EA211 (1.2–1.4 TSI)
- water pump and thermostat module leak
- turbo wastegate rattle
What to check when buying: coolant traces; unusual turbo whine when lifting off the throttle.
Tip: Noticeably more reliable than the old EA111; oil to VW 504/502 spec.
